South Lobo Women's Institute's last meal for Poplar Hill Lions

Tuesday, November 7th, 2023

Komoka Community Centre

Apart from what they do for the local community, the South Lobo Women’s Institute have been dishing up hearty meals to the Poplar Hill & District Lions CLub meeting twice a month for decades!

With the WI members numbers dwindling, it has been decided to end that union and (L-R) Glenna Ladell, Marg Cormier  Christa Clements served the last amazing dinner for the Lions Club on Tuesday November 7, 2023. The Poplar Hill & District Lions thank all the ladies of the South Lobo Women’s Institute for their friendship, service and top quality meals over the years. From roast beef to cabbage rolls, we will certainly miss their 5 star cuisine!

With Glenna, Marg and Christa is our President Lion Jamie Zavitz thanking the ladies at our final meal and in the other picture are the members in 2005-10.

For over 125 years, Women’s Institute (WI) Members have actively worked together for family, home, community and country.  The objective of the first Women’s Institute Branch, formed in Stoney Creek on February 19, 1897, was to improve women’s skills in the art of homemaking and childcare. One of the founding members had lost a son from drinking raw milk and in recent years have avocated for other special things like lights on school buses.
